Pilates is an exercise method that focuses on developing core strength, flexiibility, and long, lean muscles. It utilizes common exercise tools, such as mats and stability balls, as well as unique pieces of pilates fitness equipment, such as reformers. It is a favorite among dancers, as well as other athletes requiring a combination of strength and grace.

Pilates was developed around the principles of centering, concentration, control, centering, precision, breath, and flow. In addition to lengthening and strengthening muscles, it improves flexibility and balance.
