Used Exercise Bikes
Buying used exercise bikes can sometimes save you money over the purchase of newer models. If you are in the market for a used bike, there are a few things to consider.
First, what is the condition of the bike? What may seem like a bargain can quickly rise in cost if the bike requires repairs. Research potential models on the internet looking at reviews, features, and availability of repair and replacement parts. If buying from a local person or gym, find out why they are selling or replacing the item. If it has been sitting for awhile unused, you want to make sure it still works! If it is being upgraded, ask what made them want to replace the bike? Ideally, you will want to try out the bike to see if it still rides smoothly. But if you are unable to do so, the answers to these questions can help you decide whether it is a good purchase or not.
Second, consider buying reconditoned or remanufactured used exercise bikes. These are bikes that have been inspected for any issues and returned to original specifications. They are often 20-30% less than new bikes and usually come with some form of limited time warranty. Not all brands are reconditioned for resale, so selection may be limited.
Lastly, consider buying new. While it may cost a little more up front, you will receive an exercise bike in new condition with a full manufacturer's warranty to protect you, should you experience any problems with the bike. When shopping for an exercise bike, there are generally 3 different types to choose from: upright, recumbent, and indoor cycling or spin bikes. Upright more traditionally styled, while recumbent offer a more reclined body position. Indoor cycling bikes are those used in spinning classes and resemble road bikes in terms of how the body is positioned on the equipment.
At American Fitness, we have a full range of exercise bikes to choose from. Browse our store or contact one of our friendly customer service representatives for help in choosing the right one for you!
